Football is a metaphor
For life that’s all around
And every day we hike the ball
To play another down

Staring at our enemies
And waiting to be sacked
Remembering the victories
That matter not, in fact

For each day is a separate game
With victors of its own
And he who won just yesterday
Could soon be overthrown

So play the game with all your heart
And focus on the ball
And one day you will get your chance
To rise above them all
