The Light

The light creeps in the window
And the shadows slip away
The night has left its post
To make room for the day

And now the sounds have come
That beg the sun to rise
The trees and birds and sky
Have opened up their eyes

The earth is now alive
And as I wake I see
The simple beauty all around
That God has given me

And right away my mind is free
My goals and dreams are clear
I’m thankful for the time I have
And those that I hold dear

And every time I step outside
And soak up all in sight
My soul is lifted high above
For I have seen the light
